Have a very Messy Christmas

It’s the most wonderful time of year as Christmas approaches and it’s a great time to explore all the sights, sounds and tastes of the festive season. Here are a few creative ways you can get messy with your little ones this Christmas.
Hop aboard the Polar Express
A great way to bring the arctic into your home (without the cold) is to create a snowy scene. We use flour or icing sugar to add a sprinkle of ‘snow’ to our Polar Express train set activity. Little hands love exploring this taste safe activity and its nice and easy to wipe clean if you’re using your Tidy Tot!
Top Tip: Add a sprinkle of flour or icing sugar to your Tidy Tot tray and practise mark making in ‘snow’.
Join the Candy Cane Rice Tea Party
Coloured rice is always a huge hit at our messy play events. We make our rice super festive at Christmas in this candy cane design and little hands love joining the tea party using tea cups, spoons and scoops to pick up and pour. It makes a fantastic sound and is a great texture too!
Top Tip: You can colour rice easily using food colouring by adding a sprinkle of vinegar to your rice to help it stick. Make a bigger batch and it keeps for ages so you can reuse!
Do you want to build a snowman?
You can make your very own snowman using ‘soap-mud’ by mixing toilet paper, warm water and baby soap until you get a mouldable, squishy mud! This is a great activity for older children to help make it and little ones can have baby soft clean hands whilst playing!
Top Tip: You can make your soap mud in advance and keep it covered until you are ready to use it. It should keep nice and sticky for several hours.
